Requirements for Sports Tryouts

Students who are trying out for a sport for their first time in middle school and their parents must attend a face-to-face training at their respective school. Parents and students who have previously participated in a middle school face-to-face training are eligible to complete the online training to meet the middle school participation requirement. The online training presentation can be accessed on the PWCS website at

Students trying out for school athletic teams must also submit an annual sports physical dated after May 2, 1014. Please click here for additional important details regarding requirements for sports try-outs.

Concussion Education Training for 2014-15

Student athletes and parents, including all incoming 6th graders and/or anyone new to Prince William County Public Schools, must attend one face-to-face Concussion Education Training session prior to athletic tryouts. Sessions will be held in the cafeteria at LRMS beginning promptly at 7PM on the dates listed below. More information will be published as it becomes available.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the serious nature of the topic, the critical information presented with regard to such injuries, and the importance of seeing the program in its entirety, participants must be on time for the 7PM start of the presentation as the doors will be locked at 7:05PM, and no one will be admitted after the doors close.

~ November 5, 2014
~ January 14, 2015
~ March 18, 2015

Student athletes and parents who have already attended a face-to-face training session in the past, including 7th and 8th graders, are eligible to take this year’s mandatory concussion training online. Click here to start the online training.

Student athletes who complete the Online Concussion Training should print the Completion Certificate and submit it along with a current and completed sports physical to the main office at LRMS prior to athletic tryouts. When you turn in the two forms at the front office, be sure to sign and date the ledger presented to you by front office staff to document your submissions.
