2:50 ~ Students are dismissed upon completion of afternoon announcements.

Please note: If a student arrives at 8:10am, he/she must sign in through the main office and receive a pass to class.
2014-15 Orientation Days & Times

To facilitate a smooth entry on the first day of school, we are asking all students who are enrolled in Lake Ridge Middle School to come to school to pick up their advisory assignments. During this time, students will be shown where their advisory room are located and be given a complete tour of the building. Parents are also welcome to attend. The following dates have been scheduled for orientation:

~ Wednesday, August 20, 2014 - 6th Grade (Note: All 6th grade students must submit proof of their Tdap immunization in order to receive their Advisory Assignment on this day)
~ Thursday, August 21, 2014 - 7th & 8th Grades

Students may attend orientation sessions during the following times:

~ 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
~ 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Food Services

Food services personnel will be available in the cafeteria on the August 20 & August 21 Orientation Days. You may pre-purchase as many meals as you like by putting money on your child's account. Lunches for the 2014-15 school year will cost $2.55, breakfast is $1.40, and milk will be 65 cents. Checks should be made payable to Prince William County Schools Food and Nutrition Services (PWCSFNS).
Requirements for Sports Tryouts

Parents and students who are trying out for a sport for their first time in middle school must attend a face-to-face training at their respective school. Parents and students who have previously participated in a middle school face-to-face training are eligible to complete the online training to meet the middle school participation requirement. The online training presentation can be accessed on the PWCS website at

Students trying out for school athletic teams must also submit an annual sports physical dated after May 2, 1014. Athletic physicals will be given on Thursday, August 21, 2014, beginning at 3:00 p.m. at LRMS. The cost of the physical is $27.00 and checks should be made payable to Family Medicine. Gym Suits

Gym suits will be available for purchase on the August 20 & 21 Orientation Days. Once school has started, gym suits may be purchased during the student's P.E. class. The prices are as follows:

~ Shirt - $6.00
~ Shorts - $6.00
~ Gym bag - $15.00

Dress Code

Lake Ridge Middle School does have a dress code. Clothing should cover all undergarments with all shirts having a defined sleeve and pants/shorts secured so undergarments are not revealed. Shorts and skirts must be at least finger-tip length as measured by the individual’s arm by his or her side. Backpacks with wheels are not permitted.

TenMarks Summer Math Program

LRMS is excited to introduce the TenMarks Summer Math Program, a free online program designed to help reverse summer learning loss for students. The three-month program is personalized to your child's math level based on an initial diagnostic assessment and includes assignments, video lessons, hints, and interventions. Tdap Immunization

We have just received notification from the Virginia Department of Health that as of July 1, 2014, ALL children entering 6th grade MUST have the Tdap Immunization. Previously, if your child did not turn 11 until after school started, it was permissible to get a doctor’s note indicating the child would receive the shot when they turned 11. However, the state no longer accepts this.

**When your child receives the shot, please bring the immunization documentation to school.

If a child does not have the immunization by September 2, 2014, the child will not be allowed to start school. There will be no exceptions.

Summer Reading

Students who choose to participate in summer reading can earn extra credit to start the school year. Summer reading is completely voluntary, and students and parents may choose any books. For a list of suggested titles, click here.
Admission to Athletic Events

As outlined in the PWC Athletic Handbook, please note the following ticket prices for all school athletic events:
~ Adults - $3.00 (regional events - $5.00)
~ High school students - $1.00
~ Middle school students - $1.00
~ Elementary school students - $1.00 (K-5)
~ Senior citizens (age 60+) - no charge
Admission will be charged for all sports events. For a single contest event, ticket prices will be charged through the end of the first half of the event. For a double contest, collection will be through half-time of the second contest. For all wrestling events, ticket prices will be collected throughout the full contest. If a students leaves the building during an indoor athletic event, they must pay to return to the event.
